Once a month brush pick-up will occur. Collection depends on where you live within the city. If a holiday occurs collection will be delayed one day after the end of that holiday. Garbage cans can be left outside; however, when it is not a collection day your garbage cans must be hidden from street view. The (Solid Waste) – (Sanitation) – (Garbage) Division is responsible for collection and transportation of most residential solid waste generated within the City of Fond du Lac. Garbage collection is collected weekly in the solid green/teal carts throughout the City of Fond du Lac. No loose trash will be collected outside the garbage cart. Residential garbage collection automatically transfers over with each homeowner, meaning, it is not necessary to cancel or start-up this service. This service is offered through the City to residential properties only. Commercial properties must obtain their own service contracts through other carriers.

NEW REQUIREMENTS FOR COLLECTION - NO PLASTIC BAGS
In the spring, yard waste will be collected curbside and city crews will be in your neighborhood the working day following your regular refuse collection day during a two-week period. The spring collection will begin Monday, April 12, 2021 for a 2-week period and end on Friday, April 23, 2021. If schedules are delayed due to unforeseen difficulties, service may be extended one week to compensate for lost time. Please observe the following guidelines for the spring yard waste program:
• Yard waste must be separated from refuse, placed in paper biodegradable bags, buckets or baskets only, and placed on the terrace (not in the street) for collection.
• Corrugated boxes are not acceptable containers.
• Biodegradable paper bags when filled with yard waste shall not exceed a 50# weight limit.
• Buckets and baskets must have external handles and shall not exceed 33 gallons and 30# weight limit.
• Leaves not collected last fall should be placed in paper bags for collection or brought to Bucklin's Tree Service.
• Branches and limbs should be placed loose on the terrace and will be collected during branch and limb collection.

Do not place personal property on or near the curb. It may be picked up by mistake and you may be charged.

No loose trash can be placed outside the cart, except during overflow weeks.

Trash shall be drained and free of liquid, wrapped, packaged, and/or bundled.

Cold ashes and sawdust must be bagged and closed before being placed in the trash cart.

All invoices are sent to the property owner.

Construction, remodeling and demolition trash and materials are not collected by the city.

Garbage collection is provided once per week to all residential properties within the City of Appleton utilizing the City supplied garbage cart. Garbage carts are available in three different sizes to fit your needs. Charges are included on your quarterly City Service Invoice (Water Bill)
